As a business owner, one of your priorities should be to ensure that your business and its accompanying assets are kept safe and secure. As such, investing in the right business security system will ensure that your assets are kept safe and leave you with peace of mind.

A good business security system will include CCTV cameras, burglar alarms, and offer you an effective locking mechanism. A security system is the first line of defense that you as a business owner have against the threat of burglars and intruders.  A good rule to follow is to ensure that all critical areas of your business premises are locked with the right lock and key at all times to eradicate any chances of unauthorized access.

Here are some of the different keys that you can consider having for your business:

  1. The Key Card

Some have defined the key card system as the workhorse of business access control. The card system stores credentials onto a key card, and then these are given to you and your staff to present to a card reader. The reader then sends this data to the controller for verification. If the controller confirms that the credential matches the information stored on the system, the controller unlocks the door and sends this signal to the reader.

Usually, key cards are the most widely used security systems as they are easy to secure, cheap to manufacture, easy to manage, and simple to program.

  1. The Master Key

The Master key is a suitable option to pursue if your business has grown and houses many employees, rooms, and doors.  By employing a master key solution for your business, you will be able to circumvent the need for carrying around many keys.

Under this system, specific keys access a certain predefined number of doors, thus giving you and your staff either complete or restricted access to the different areas within the premises.

  1. The Skeleton Key

A skeleton key has a majority of the parts removed so that the key can open many different locks. Typically, this key has a large open circle on the top of the key, a long thin body, and key-bits at the bottom of the key.

This kind of key is similar to the master key.  However, the skeleton key opens only certain types of warded locks and lever locks. The skeleton key has no warded section as it opens the door using its levels. The skeleton key structure allows each door lock to have its unique keys, while the skeleton key can open each lock.

The skeleton key is generally suitable for businesses with many doors, such as a resort or a hotel complex.

  1. The Magnetic Key

The magnetic key system uses magnetism properties to pull and push tumblers inside a lock to open it. These kinds of locks are not easy to pick and do not require electricity for them to function.

The kind of business security system you select depends on the needs of security for your business. Every business is different and it is important to choose the right key access for which it is being used for! Contact the team at Capital Lock to help decide which key is right for your business.
